The WorkChoices System
Even though WorkChoices attempts as much as possible to reduce state intervention and empower employees and employers, it is inevitable that under every system, there is a real possibility of people taking advantage and exploiting their freedom.
Thus in the desire of promoting equity both in the workplace and by implication across Australia, it is necessary to have some type of minimum safety net.
A safety net, provides for a set of basic minimum standards which automatically apply to all employees and which cannot be bargained away either in a workplace agreement or an award.
